Riverhelm, "The City of Kings", is known as the greatest kingdom in Terra. Built against the side of the mountain itself, Riverhelm is protected from it's back and from its sides by rivers and water falls. Riverhelm has one entrance and exit. Riverhelm's walls are also the tallest and strongest of all the kingdoms, lined with archers and full protected. Ask any guard what his first lesson of training was and they will tell you, "don't fall". Riverhelm is the trading, shipping, cultural, and military capital of all of Terra. Riverhelm is a place of new beginnings and a place of proving. If you've run away from home, seeking adventure or fortune, or looking to settle in a place of protection... then Riverhelm is the city for you.
The founders and majority of the population of the City consists of Nords. However, the city itself is a cultural hub. Riverhelm houses many diverse races and cultures in a melting pot that is unique to Terra. Most cultured and races are welcome, so long as they continue to obey the laws of the city. Non-Nordic races who come to call Riverhelm home more often than not assimilate into the Nordic/Riverhelm culture creating a hybrid like way of life. Riverhelm is truly unique.
Riverhelm may be a welcoming place, but it comes with some unwritten rules. Everyone in the city (despite race or culture) is meant to provide for the city and themselves. A blacksmith working his shop, speaking to a traveler, put it simply, "If you don't work, you don't eat." A foreman working at the mines gave a better description, "We don't give hand outs. If you need coin, find a pick and start swinging in the mines. If not, then sign up with the legion. If you can't find work here, you won't anywhere." Riverhelm has many people who are willing to assist it's people and travelers, so long as they are willing to work hard for it. Riverhelm's main export and industry is ore. The mines produce many types of ore that come from the mountain in which Riverhelm's back lies.
The lands in front of the great city protect vast farm lands and villages for those who live outside the hustle and bustle of the city. Farmers and herders live quiet and peaceful lives. They provide the city with their produce and thus are protected by the Knights of Riverhelm (without fee). The land is lies next to the great river where many fetch their water and fish. Life is simple, and life is good.
The city also houses the Temple of the Divines. Riverhelm openly worships the Adrea/9 Divines (the elder scrolls). The city's patrons are Talos, Mara, and Stendiar. The temple is highly respected and attended to by the priests and priestess of the Divines.
